About Us

At the beginning of 2025 I decided to take all the knowledge, skills, and experience I’ve accumulated over the last decade of my professional life, combine it with my lifelong passion for music, throw in some things I learned along the way in L.A. and Austin, and open a record store. 

What if I told you your favorite band was someone you've never heard of? The right song, lyric, melody can have a profound effect on a person. Sometimes I hear a band for the first time and wonder how I ever got through life without knowing they existed. I want to help other people have those moments; find that missing music they didn’t know they needed. Find that band or musician that you absolutely love but have no idea exists. And from that little hit of dopamine that comes from discovering something so new and exciting that you just can’t help but share, City Rat Records was born. 

For now, it’s online and at pop-ups around Baltimore but plans are in the works for a physical space with some exciting event and community-focused features — so stay tuned!
